"Karen Barton: Wyoming Artist Specializing in Portraits and Wildlife"
Karen Barton spends most of her time in her art studio, located upstairs in her home in Buffalo, Wyoming, at the base of the Big Horn Mountains. Her childhood goals and dreams were always directed toward visual art, and with each life choice she has come to realize that dream. She has honed her drawing skills with decades of portraiture.
Her skills as a portrait artist have earned her State and national recognition, most recently, the Best of Show award in the SAGE 14th Annual National Juried competition in 2024. A portrait was selected into the 2022 Wyoming Governor's Capital Art Exhibition, and notably, it was her portrait work that won the Best of Show, the Congressional award, and the Artists Choice awards in the WAA (WY Artists Association) competition in 2019.
In recent years she has been willing to push the edges of her ability to experience new creative approaches to painting the elusive wildlife of Northeast Wyoming such as injecting vibrant colors and textures, or playing with atmospheric effects that inspire the imagination of the viewer.
Barton's work can be found in several Sheridan, Buffalo, and Dayton art galleries. Her website offers originals and signed and numbered limited edition prints directly from her studio as well. Karen Barton also teaches online private lessons. Contact her if interested. artist@karenbarton.com
