It is no small thing to have a portrait commissioned. Years after the family photos have all faded a portrait will still be something of that can proudly be displayed in the home. Karen Barton takes great care to create a masterpiece out of each and every portrait that is commissioned, no matter how big or small.
When a portrait is commissioned communication between the artist and the person commissioning the portrait is vitally important in order for the artist to get a clear idea of what the desired result is. Karen Barton will work directly with you to accommodate your vision for the portrait and to fall within your budget. Karen is committed to meet or exceed your expectations. Please contact Karen Barton to discuss your vision.
Portraits can be commissioned in a variety of mediums including oils, pastels, charcoal and pen & ink. Portrait painting prices vary depending on three factors: medium, size, and subject matter. Additional people or pets, intricacies in clothing or backgrounds, and the percentage of the subject that appears in the portrait are a few things about the subject matter that will affect portrait painting prices. Portraits can be done by either having a reference photo session or using a photo that you already have that you would like to be used as a reference.
Any travel costs incurred for a reference photo session are extra. Matting and framing costs, shipping fees and any applicable sales taxes are also additional. A non-refundable down payment of 30% of the total cost is due up-front when the contract is signed. The remaining balance is due when the portrait is delivered to you and you approve the finished product.
